Last week the hubby and I took a break from prepared meals, and took a trip to visit my parents.
My parents live in Dallas, TX and that's where I grew up! Even though I've lived in CA longer than TX, I still call it "home."
While we were there, I convinced my parents to take a road trip to Austin. Mike had never been there, and I hadn't been there since I was a kid.
Needless to say, WE HAD A BLAST!!
1. Gordough's Donuts -
Huge, Rich, Ooey + Gooey!
My Dad saw this on food network and planned for us to go months before we even got there! It didn't disappoint! Don't make the same mistakes we made though - these donuts are big enough for 2!
2. Pool Burger - generous pours on classic tiki cocktails. My mom was hammered after we left this place, and she rapped in the Lyft on the way back to our AirBNB.
3. Justine's Brasserie -
Fabulous, French + Expensive as shit. It was gourmet all the way and I enjoyed every bite!!
4. Moonshine -
We had brunch here the next morning. The bloodies were yummy; my mom had the chix and waffles and they looked great! I had the shrimp and grits. The tasso ham was a great touch and I fell in love with the hatch chili grits.
Let's just say we packed as much as we could in to a 36 hour period. BUT, WE ARE 100% already planning our next trip because there is so much more to see in that awesome city.
As soon as we got back, the TMC team and I dove straight back into work, creating a bunch of new menu items for meal prep in May! Can't wait to share what we've been cooking up for your prepared meals in our next post!
Have you been to Austin? If so, let me know of some great places to eat and drink in the comments below!
